ALH Build Up
« on: December 08, 2010, 05:49:02 pm »
So...The turbo on my TDI Called it last night, All kinds of grinding noise, The Turbo speed goes up and down without the RPMS changing, Stopped Boosting  few weeks ago...I figured I can park it for the rest of the winter and kinna rebuild it lol. So here is the lis of stuff:

Looking at a VNT-22 Turbo
.205 or .216MM Injector Nozzles,
New Rings
Headgasket
ARP Studs
and Possibly a 11MM Head for the Pump.

Do I need to replace the Bearings on the Connecting Rods?

I'm only planning on Running 20PSI,

and I will be Changing the Clutch, Whats the best Combo

I'd replace all bearings and seals while your in there...well worth it, trust me. Plus if your going bigger nozzles, you'll probably need a programmer, cause stock fuel on a tdi isn't enough to put through the bigger nozzles, as I found out, and it'll spit and sputter. At least that's what I think is going on with mine, have to get some stock injectors to find out. Good luck!

catlin...you will be doing most of the engine and the clutch. It WILL be worth it do at least freshen the seals. The main seal does nasty things to new clutches and for probably less than 20.00 at least do that one for me LOL

I would plastigauge the bearings and see if you need them or not. If VW is still using one time use bolts then I would get new as the new bolts may cause the rods to need resized.
