Fuel out of LDA?
« on: December 07, 2010, 03:53:36 pm »
So I noticed today that not only does my mileage suck (31mpg on last tank), when I pulled into my garage tonight when I got home it was dripping fuel.
Seems to be dripping out of one of the vacuum ports on the LDA. Even the vac line attached to that little device in front of the fuel filter had fuel in it.

I need to know what would cause that. is the pump itself shot? Can I remove the LDA from the pump and do away with it? What kinds of options have i got here?

Worst case scenario I'll grab the new pump off the Golf and bolt it up. If I HAVE to.

Any ideas?

yup...that's the critter right there!

I noticed that the writeup was for a TD pump. Is the oring the same for the N/A pump?

BTW, That was an awesome writeup!

I think I'll park the Jetta for a couple of days till i can address this issue properly. I hate doing it cause even at 31mpg it's still better than the 23 mpg I get in the 300D and it's a 100 mile daily commute. ::)

Side note....if I block off that line so it doesn't drip, think I could get by for a few days without grenading something more expensive?
You know, so I don't have to drive the benz.....

Sorry, yeah. I'm referring to the '90 jetta. The golf doesn't have that thing on top.

Hmmm... if it doesn't have the thing on the top are we talking about a different o-ring leaking on your 1990?

This was the line that confused my feeble mind:

I noticed that the writeup was for a TD pump. Is the oring the same for the N/A pump?
