82 rabbit window fit 85 golf?

before I start tearing things apart this weekend, my new 85 golf needs a driver's window, which I have in an 82 rabbit--if they are compatible.  Anyone know?  both are two door with fixed glass in front of window.  both manual crank.  maybe have to swap lift mechanism also?  any input appreciated

It should work. I think you will only need to unbolt the window from the lift and get it out of the track to swap. I did something similar but it was long ago.

I don't think it'll work. I think the mkII window is bigger.

For some reason I was thinking 84 and 81 which is what I had. No idea what will work there, sorry.

mk1 and mk2 dont interchange.. they are shaped too differently..
