I have too much junk and projects.

I do to.. I didn't really expect to end up with it.. Typically when I see one of them pop up somewhat closeby they are in far worse condition for far more money..  I bid $375 with expectations of going for around $600, kinda forgot about it till I got the email saying I won..  ::)

Guess the Rabbit will wait a bit longer now..  At least the price of scrap is kind of up..  Looks like I'll be hauling some junk out in the next few days...

Same way I ended up with my 1964 Checker Marathon. Threw a bid, and forgot about it. $510 for the car, and $800 to ship it..

Good luck with it.

Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy.

Indeed..   Very smooth though in comparison to the IH IDI..  Then again any of the IH engines I've encounted in the last few years have 3x+ the miles on them..

I was always under the impression that the 5.7's ran kind of rough in general due to inconsistent chamber volumes in the heads..  I'm kinda impressed at how smooth this one is.. This is the later DX engine, maybe they were better on that aspect..   Once I get around to yanking things apart I'm gonna have them measured just to see what I got..

Got the title for this thing finally..  Called my insurance company... WTH!?!?!?!?  It's gonna cost almost 30% more to insure than my VW which is the most expensive at the moment..  And a tad over 40% more than the Caprice wagon..   I think I've just found the real curse of the GM 5.7 diesel....   >:(

*edit*

As soon as I posted this I got though to my agent again..  Apparently that price was for full coverage...  Funny thing is she almost stressed that roadside assistance is included with that..   ::)

So are you gonna keep the full coverage?

I was gonna say (before reading the full coverage part) when it goes BOOM and takes you and a child out with it, they wanna make sure your covered. LOL

you should be able to add roadside assistance to any insurance plan for very little money.
mine is like $8 a year extra for a free tow to the nearest town(really nice in AK when the nearest town can be 70+ miles away)

Yeah the roadside assistance was like 7 or 8 bucks..  I just found it funny that she seemed to stress the roadside assistance for this particular car..  :-\

As far as the full coverage, I think I have to..  I'm in process of applying for an antique registration..  And if I understand these lovely government forms I have to have full coverage on that specific car when applying and after it's approved.. After it is "antiqued" I'd retain full coverage, but the cost will only be about $75 a year.. As it turns out my agent was on the right track as usual..  AS far as the roadside assistance, that isn't necessary and I think she was stressing to me that that was her mistake..  I have AAA so I really don't need it.. I think it would be cheaper than the AAA membership, but there it a lot of other perks with them I have learned to abuse...

Does anyone know if the Stanadyne DB2 pumps ever got say a boost enrichment or altitude compensation device???  Maybe on some variety of industrial machinery??   As far as I have been able to find out via the WWW they didn't, but I thought I'd check and see if maybe, just maybe someone has seen something floating about out there...

I'm just thinking out loud here, no crazy ideas yet..

ive never seen any LDA style of device on one.. not even the mechanical 6.5TD had one did it?

pretty sure all the 94 and older 6.5's were DB2 equipped..

are you thinking about boosting the holy bejesus out of the 5.7?! BOOST ER TILL SHE BLOWS!! (then drop in an AM GENERAL 6.5, if one can be had cheap enough)
