just a rad fan/ defrost question
« on: November 20, 2010, 08:09:38 am »
just wondering on a 1991 jetta TD with airconditioning, is the rad fan supposed to come on when defrost is selected?, the car is being driven in the winter, and the A/C is disconnected so it doesent need to come on when its defrosting, if i disconnect the switch on the back of the heater control panel, will this stop the rad fan from coming on at all ( i dont want to risk the car over heating, because its not me who is going to be driving)
1990 VW jetta 1.6 td, 2.5" exhaust, no muffler, governor mod 2010 edition, K&N filter. and now 66 hp and 136 ftlbs.
project 1.6 liter in the works  :)

Rad fan coming on while defrost is selected is normal. Your question of disconnecting it at the fan switch is the way to go.
