Finding TDC on a 5000TD
« on: November 19, 2010, 03:14:44 am »
Does anyone have a good way to find TDC on a 5 grand TD? The 3 marks don't match. The one on the flywheel end does not have a pointer. I suppose I could try to fish a section of wire through the PC chamber and split the difference between where it locks up CW and then CCW but I was hoping to not have to touch the injectors until later.

I had to remove the vacuum pump pulley to straighten it, so lost the IP timing. I set it at .110 by the mark from the .093 it had (by the same incorrect mark) when I got it. Seems to run better, but I think I lost some mileage, so I want to check and reset it when I adjust the valves in the AM.

Instead of using a wire, use your pump timing gauge to accurately find TDC. I think its in the FAQ section.

How pray tell would I do that? I do not think there is a straight shot from injector socket to the outlet of PCC.
