Was hoping to find a cast valve cover that was designed for the AAZ rather than having to machine the head to fit a 1.6 style one. Does anyone know if there is a head similar to the G60 but designed with the 3 center bolts used on the AAZ?
With respect to the broken solenoid mount, Andrew removed the line and plugged that with a bolt. He then drove a small ball bearing to plug the hole in the solenoid mount. Sealed perfectly with no leaks. The Giles IP installed very easily and cranked right up--it helps that I have a small electric diesel pump on the fuel line coming out of the tank. We had to turn the fuel down a bit as the IP was smoky, although could have been partially due to the 7,000 ft plus (2,100 m) altitude. The engine is certainly peppier with the new IP. Mileage on the 300 mile (500 km) trip back to Tucson was 31 mpg (about 13.7 l/km).
