I pulled this rebuilt head apart to port it. After I removed the valves, I noticed some damage to the seals.

My firm opinion is that you need new seals.
IIRC you're supposed to put the valves in and then install the seals, that lets you wriggle the seal around and hopefully not rip it apart. Also light grease/oil them for installation.

K. Glad I kept the set I got a few years ago with the Victor Reinz head gasket set.

Also I seem to be having trouble finding a MLS headgasket. I emailed Myke W with no response. Anyone know a good supplier? Thanks.

Yeah I'm not sure if Myke is still selling stuff, he was active on here just a couple weeks ago. I've since PM'd and emailed him with no response

Ah... but did you keep the little plastic cap from your Victor Reinz kit that goes on the end of the valve stem to protect the seal as you're pushing it over the valve?!

I cut the corner out of a heavy plastic bag and used that to install the valves through the seals. Worked great.

Push a lightly lubed valve through and see if the seals grip.
Clearly these have not been exposed to high temperature oil yet so they should be fine IMO

So reinstall valves with little plastic cap, and I should be ok? Anyone else agree? Thanks.

You've already got 'em, the head's out... I'd personally say go for it and rest easy.
The sequence is:
1) install valve
2) install protective cap
3) press on valve seal
4) remove cap
Lather, rinse, repeat. ;-)
