This is the core support I have. I bought it off the tex as NOS VW 7" round core support. THe 7" cats eye I got off the great gentleman Gee Bee will not fit correctly. There aren't holes for mounting that I can see in the core support. There is a Canadian dealer that sells this and I think that is what I will have to buy.

But in the mean time I paid 90.00 plus shipping for this core support and have no clue what it is for. I did an image search for just about every kind of VW combination of headlamp for MKI and MKII and nothing I have found looks like the one I have. I would sell it if I can't figure it out but don't know what to call it to sell it.

I can modify just about anything to make it work, but I would rather have a nice peice that isn't hacked and will go together quickly. For that matter I could probably mod the aero core support to fit the 7"s. I don't want to fight it though and already spent the money for the correct support to avoid it.
Let me know my options

never seen that before, I got a core support from South africa and it's massive compared to those

It's made to go with the South african fenders and the SF bumper assy

those 7's just screwed right on

Thanx for the complement

Mine are for MKII. With the searching I have done the one you have is probably the entire front of the car looking piece. I know I can't use that one, but still have no clue what I have.
I just got Fedex and my grill came. The lights won't be easily adjusted or the holes for the adjusters are off or I will have to put the cross hairs in a little sideways. All that no matter if I get this core support to work or not.

mk1 core support is most of the front of the car, and NOT easily replaced..

mk2 core supports are a little part that the grille and lights mount to, and very easily replaced..

a cheap junk mk2 core support. looks like it takes specific lights and grille. i see no mounting provisions for standard VW lights and grille..

its not a normal roundie support tho.. and i doubt standard roundie parts will work on it..

The guy I bought it off of said it was for MKII one piece rounds. I have no clue what that is. It is VW as it has a logo stamped into it and the guy also said N.O.S. It looks good, but I can't mount the stinking lights. They would sit about 2" behind the grill if I just used long screws and zipped them in.

maybe its a square AERO (euro) support, but its not the correct support for standard VW lights and grille.

i dunno what its for or from, but i do know that its NOT the one you want to use. you can actually modify the AERO support to fit the round lights.. ive seen it done.

I just got this on the tex... let me know if this is true and I will go after the guy to get my $$$ back and buy a new one.

"That looks like a Mk2 core support for 200mm rectangular sealed beam lights. But those core supports typically have the headlight buckets attached. You can see the square openings for the mounting clips."

Yep, Westy.  That's what the core support looked like in the Golf before I switched them out to rounds.

FYI BFI has the round support (works with single or dual rounds) for $89.00.

The guy is The Dub Man  and he may get back with me. He finally responded to me on the vortex and said a family member died. He logged on 4 times without responding so I question that, but I will give him the benefit and feel sorry for his loss. I will also still expect him to make it right.
