CV axle flang (transmission side) replace able?
« on: October 25, 2010, 09:47:50 pm »
I need to know if you can replace the flang on the transmission that the cv shaft bolts to. I'm assuming you can. Has any one done this and if so how hard is it?

Thanks Aaron

Yes you can replace them, but you'll need some tools like, a puller of some sorts, very small tipped but strong needle nose pliers.
Have a look at brokevw.com for all the info and tools needed.

Pay attention how it comes apart and replace the large flange seal...probably the snap ring, and the center "bottle cap" in the center of the flange.

Autohausaz.com sells the little kit (as well as other parts suppliers).

i made my own puller/installer for those drive flanges..

i can install them in the car or on the bench.

comes in handy when you buy a trans that doesnt fit the axles already in your car..
