RPM Gauge Not Working
« on: October 21, 2010, 05:24:30 pm »
Hey guys I have a 1990 Jetta Flair 2 and I swapped a 1.6 TD from a 91 Jetta now there are a couple of little problem but firstly I want to know why the tach is not working. Now I have modified a 1.8 alternator to fit and I connected every thing up right so i'm not sure why its not working. Thanks

On diesels the tach is driven by a special terminal from the alternator... if your modifications to the gasser alternator didn't include adding this terminal... thar she blows!!

Search for "W terminal" and you'll find lots of discussion... even a thread or two on adding one to an alternator that doesn't already have it.
