Radio rewiring? (1985 Mk2)
« on: December 30, 2005, 05:45:48 pm »
My radio is currently wired into the headlight switch (has to be at at least parking lights to work), because the PO was having problems with it draining the battery.

I'd like to put it on switched power, which, as I understand, wasn't the norm for pre-1989 Mk2s.

My Bentley is on the way, but can someone give me pointers now, while the car's just sitting waiting on a dial gauge for a TB job?

I think I might have wired my stereo up to the heater switch right below the stereo. Do some poking around with a test light and you should be able to find the switched power lead. I figured it's designed for a motor load so it should be more than enough for a deck.
