Time for some maintenance. 1.6TD
« on: October 14, 2010, 10:38:59 am »
I have been chasing a misfire for a while. Comes and goes. Replaced injectors, but shes been blowing oil for some time too. Most recently from the dipstick tube. Last night I stopped by a little food market store and had quite a bit of trouble re-starting the engine. This morning a little bit into my 90 mile commute I heard a short ratcheting sound so I let of the throttle, and it just kept on pulling for a short period. I drove it on in to work. Im hoping to get by with rings without pulling the engine, but if need be I can always barrow 4 of my new oversize pistons from my D24T project. The engine is pushing 250K miles though and the boost has been turned up to 20 psi for the last 40K of that. wonder why theywear out so fast????

Crap! Gotta go max oversize on pistons. Blew or melted a good size chunk from between the rings on #2 piston. Good oportunity to upsize my clutch though. $$$$  :'(
