Can I swap the heads of these two turbo pumps(pictures inside)

Long story short I got a new to me 85 jetta turbo diesel which has a manual 5 speed tranny.  Click this link for a picture of my pump.

I tried to reseal my pump and all was well except I replaced the main shaft seal and it was puking when I tried to start the car up.  Taking out that seal revealed some major shaft play.  Even with the dripping leaks the car ran great before.  No smoke, pulled without hiccups and got 40+mpg.

I got this next pump, being told you can use whatever turbo pump on whatever turbo car and I have found differences.  Click here for a picture of my other pump.

My bracket won't fit on the other pump, won't allow the solenoid wire harnesses to be attached to the bracket, and it also has a spring loaded arm coming out of the front of the pump that I do not have.  My spring back on the governor arm is bigger as well.

So I was wondering if I can take my top half off and put it on the new pumps bottom so all my parts line up like before?

Thanks so much for any help!

You can swap the tops, I'm doing one at the moment.

BUT, I can't see why the brackets won't interchange???

You're going to have to strip the accelerator lever - so mark up it's position relative to the shaft, when you can see the line on the top of the shaft - normally have to remove top spring.

Just curious, where in the world are you?  The 'new' pump you've got is a 107 which is a standard earlier 1.6 pump... the '110' pump you were running before though is one I hadn't personally heard of, although it has an '068' part number so it should be for a 1.6.  Wondering if it started life as a Vanagon pump or something like that...

Also not sure what you mean about the 'spring loaded arm' - can you send a pic?

On my old pump they had it assembled wrong even though it was running great so I am going to have to start from scratch as far as the governor arm assembly goes as well as the high and low speed adjustments :(

I am in bay area, california, no idea about the history of this vehicle.  Most parts on the car look abused but I see globs of rtv around the engine and coolant areas so somebody has been in there.

Here are some more pictures.

Click on this link to see a side by side view.  You can see the spring packs are completely different.  The top case isn't exactly cast the same either.

Click on the next link to see my pumps accelerator cable bracket.  It is in 2 pieces and held on by screws across the flat top casing of the pump.  If I were to try and attach this to the new pump, that casing isn't straight across so I don't have screw holes to line up with.  Also again the spring packs/arms don't line up to hit those solenoid things that attach to the bracket.

Well that's a new one!!  No idea what the deal with that arm is.  Wonder if it's an industrial pump or something?  Don't think I've seen one with an LDA though (not really any reason to have an LDA in a constant-RPM application).

You can try giving a Bosch shop a call, they can probably tell you what the original application was.  I really don't know what that lever could be though.
