If I host pics on my webspace, do I simply add the page link between the image tags?  Is there a size limit?

Yup, as per the FAQ:

There's no size limit I'm aware of, since the BW is carried by the picture host, but for practical purposes anything wider than about 1024 pixels gets pretty annoying to read.
