Wintertime diesel price blues...
« on: October 04, 2010, 06:47:15 am »
Can definitely tell the heating season is upon us.  Diesel jumped almost fifty cents in less than a week here in sw oregon.  Up to 3.50.  Whats it doing in other areas?  Figured it was the "winterization" blend driving it up so fast.  I don't really notice the prices so much, because I only put in ten bucks every other week or so.  I don't have to drive much, so....but today I'm driving out to crater lake to get some pics of where this vw plunged over a cliff a looooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnngggggggggg way down into one of the deepest most beautiful freshwater bodies on earth ;D

So I finally got a nice day to look for where this fooligan went in.  the article said they were NEAR the north junction overlook.  So just above the overlook are a couple of spots to pull off to the left at about a thirty degree angle.  As soon as I looked back at where a car would roll if its wheels were still pointed in the direction of turning off, anyone could tell.  It would roll backwards and to the left: this was the tragic flaw:D.

His parking spot which I parked in.  Notice how I put my wheels.  If they had turned their wheels after parking, it prolly never would have gone off the cliff.  It woulda rolled back a little, and then rolled right back.  The spot is on a slight incline at about a thirty degree angle.  We're kinda facing traffic.

The shoulder directly behind my car.  The cliff is off to the right of the picture.......straight down:eek:  It must have happened quick

The view they looked at when the car was gone.  I highly doubt they even saw the car after it left the cliff it drops so fast

The kid had his greasy hands on the camera I found out after I got home.  sorry for some of the blurriness on a couple.  Turned out to be a nice day after a crappy morning.

some other shots from the day

Nice shots. It's been a few years since I've been out that way.
