Intercooler Install , VW Rabbit Truck MKI
« on: October 03, 2010, 11:23:12 pm »
I wanted to relocate my battery to under the bed or behind the passenger seat for room for a intercooler install

I purchased a CNC Optima mount and Battery and rotated the cnc mount 90 degrees and now the battery fits sideways with  plenty of
room for the two 90 degree elbows on each side of the 675 mm MKII radiator swap.

Installation parts : a PD130 with a 2' tubes and will have a custom Bell intercooler make a 2' thick custom intercooler
( I will advise a bell part # later )

Size ( intercooler )will be 2' outlets , 2 thick x 26 wide x 8 depth , Iam going to send them a stock radiator for them to use the stock condenser a/c mounts.

I will finish the install after the tube bead roller arrives and the upper and lower 1.6 Td  coolant hose and the the scirocco lower coolant radiator hose is finished from production.

I am using a MKII fan and I will install a dash switch to turn on for long pull's, I did have to find a fan MKII harness and a new temp sensor for the radiator( three pin)

WANT A PIC ?

Sounds like great ideas and excellent concepts all the way through.

Should be a KilleR set-up.

sounds good, but what if you want a/c? Also, when this is done is there a possibility of group buy for price or is it just going to be bad no matter what  ;)

Spoke with bell today , they are going to add a cross bracce on the intercooler mount to attach to the 6 mm screws on the radiator tank's

I was informed that the outlets can be ordered in 2', 2'25 or 2'50 at the time of order

He will give me a correct size based on CFM's and the psi/hp we need

My outlet's will be two inch, one one on each side, towards the upper part of the intercooler

My tubing will be 2' ( black)red coupler's to match my coolant / radiator hoses..

Iam finishing all of my tubing, still waiting for beader before my tubing goes to powdercoat ( black)

My PD130 and race pipe will probly be just polished

What's the difference between the rocco lower rad hose and mk1? Is it any longer?

Gee-Bee is from Orange County, it does not get more evangelical or right wing than that. Besides what's your point?
