So i got to drive the Audi Canada R8 Spyder....
« on: September 05, 2010, 12:41:10 am »

this exact car.

The car is a demonstration vehicle from the Audi Head office in Ontario.

If any of you is familiar with Vancouver, specifically North Vancouver, you know about Capilano Audi...

Anyways, I've never driven a car with over 400 HP and specifically a super car at that.

Lets just say that, if I were to have gotten caught driving this car, I would have been cuffed and thrown in jail without even saying peep.

Yes it's THAT awesome.

OMFG  :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

I'd rather get some seat time in the coupe with the 5.2L V10, but an R8 is an R8. Damn I really need to start playing the lottery.

REALLY like to try one. My brother is an engineer at ford/dearborn, and his current ride is the new 5L mustang convertible. 410 horse with a 6 speed manual, traction control, all the toys. Looks like they'd be similar, and I know the mustang is a ball to drive. Back seat sucks though!

traction control is the worst invention on the planet earth. when my foot goes to the floor, i want the throttle to do the same, not have the computer tell me i cant do that.

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

On the MK6 GTI it does wonders thou. If it wasn't for traction Control it wouldn't take off as quick as it does. it would just spin

I wish they went production with the tdi version. Although I would happily take the gas version! That car is just gorgeous.

it was absolutely phenominal!

I dared not to take the traction control off....i floor it, the car wanted to break loose and with the biase towards the rear, it literally launched with a force that was simply unimaginable.

the closest thing i can relate it to is the feeling of a jet plane taking off before you go to your tropical destination.

while on the highway, i gave it minimal gas and the car just squatted, and took off with the speedo climbing faster than I've ever seen it in a car.

the only other time i've experienced that speed was on my 1000cc sport bike, but that was a completely different feeling.

we will get the car back at our dealership on Sept. 23rd after it's had its rounds at the local Audi dealerships.

the car was given to us with 7000+k on the clock so far, and the P-Zero's were bald....

from what my tech's have said, taking traction control off is a suicide approach, giving it the least bit of throttle would have resulted in you doing 360's without even trying. I did not want to have a concious of knowing that this car might have resulted in damage.

The stares and looks that i've gotten while driving this were simply out of this world. Vancouver hasn't seen a spyder yet, but we have seen many coupes. So this was a pure trip

I don't think similar is the right word, the mustang will still have econobox build quality, poor suspension design and the vague road feel they tell us americans love. I'd rather drive a fiesta. The r8 is a nice looking vehicle!

I think you might need to take me out for a quick drive in it then  :o ;)

enough boost is when you have 3 dimple marks in the hood from the valve cover nuts..  ;D
