• Herb, CE1 has an upshift indicator.

  And of course, Diesel unit will have a Gplug indicator, and not say UnLeaded Fuel anywhere. lol

  Other way around, CE2 has one plug, CE1 has two plugs a black one and a white one. The switch from CE1 to CE2 was halfway through 1989.
  
  1985 thru 1989.5 = CE1 - 2 plugs
  From 1989.5-1992 = CE2 - 1 plug
  
  You can also tell by the location of the fuel gauge,  CE1 has it in the tach face, CE2 it's top center of the cluster. CE2 clusters also have an LED for Temperature and the glow plug LED gets moved to the second row.
