Long story short, I am a newb to this world and got my first idi.  I am cleaning up the car which seems to run real good.

I sprung a ip leak, and used this awesome forum to reseal my pump.  I marked everything, went to reinstall and just happened to see another users picture album on the process and it made me wonder if my top accelerator arm piece is installed the opposite direction?

It makes me wonder if that lever should be flipped so that it can hit the low fuel stop screw, instead of the lever slamming back from throttle and hitting the actual pump body??

That should be hitting the, what bentley calls it "vehicle max speed screw". definatley not the pump body.

It looks like the top piece is upside down.

thanks, that is what i thought after looking at it more, it is crazy what previous owners do to their cars :)

so my marks mean nothing and i cannot find previous marks when i flip it the other way.

so basically i am going to have to install the pump and tinker with setting with the arm and springs off, and back the lowspeed screw all the way in so i can find the sweet spot, install the arm, then bring the set screw back out to touch the stopper arm?

again newbie question, but when i turn the accelerator shaft ccw from the position it was originally in, it seems like there is a bit of dead space, before i hit some resistance that is then spring loaded(i guess the governor arm with the springs in the main housing)

so is the idle position supposed to be with no resistance, then when you give it throttle it goes through the spring loaded range?

just looking for a little reference on where to start before i start the engine back up :)  thanks!

Should be no slack in the operation of the lever, otherwise no point in the screw stop. Equally, tension in the accelerator cable should be taken up with the horseshoe clip on the cable outer. That's how my Quantum works.
