There are mixed emotions on lightened flywheels and how light to go. Smoking Eddy delt with that company and they didn't communicate well. That kit looks like a stock kit with a lightened flywheel being the extra cost. LUK makes a great clutch if you want stock or better holding power. Since it is a 1.6 it probably has a 190 or 200mm setup. You can get a 210mm flywheel from an aaz and run a 210mm pressure plate with a 210mm SMALL 24 SPLINE hub in the friction disc. The disc is the only weird deal as it was stock on an 8v scirrocco or something, but normally the 210 is for the bigger input shaft. I went clutchnet and will let you know how it does hopefully in my thread this weekend:D

For the money of that shift kit and the hassles of install I would just go with one from this guy. I think he is a forum member now too.

I bought a stage 2 kit from them for my 82 caddy 1.6l td. I can not recommend it!!! It only lasted about 6 months and 4,000 miles of daily driving and came apart. It was not driving hard just to and from work. They have record of the purchase but no help as I have misplaced my invoice. I do not know anything about the shift kit maybe someone can chime in on that. If it is anything like the clutch kits I would stay away. Just my experience.
You bought it from clutchnet or blackforest? Also the shift kit is a completely different company than the clutch of mine.
Bought the clutch kit from BlackForest. I wish now I would have used clutch net.

I like the stock weight flywheel with the diesel, helps to keep the idle smoother and helps with low end off the line torque. A diesel engine does not rev up as fast or as high as a gas engine so I don't see the benefit a lighter flywheel.

On a diesel, i'd go heavier on the flywheel - before i'd go lighter.
Thats in a driver or load hauler application.
If i was gonna race it more than drive it, then maybe go lighter.
BFI is in my local region, but they don't seem to care too much about anybody who isn't placing an order for over $500. Or bringing in a car for some $$$ upgrading.
And their prices can usually easily be beaten.

They have the option of a 9lb. flywheel which I'm assuming is light even for gasser applications but I don't really know what the diesel flywheel weighs?
I have a 1.6n/a with a 4a transmission. I have rebuilt it .020 over and did the governor mod. I went with a Eurosport Luk clutch kit 210mm, along with a 10.5 lbs stock style lightened flywheel. This combo made a huge difference! My car accelerates off the line quick, especially 1st and 2nd. I wonder how much faster it would be with a Giles pump. I can also light up the tires in 1st easily, that is with 195 width tires. The clutch grabs hard. I really enjoy driving my diesel, it is very close in acceleration as my gasoline 1982 caddy truck with 4-speed. Hope this helps.

the 210mm clutch was the biggest difference, not the flywheel.. trust me, i know..
i just went from a 200mm with a light flywheel, to a 210 with a heavy flywheel, and the 210 accelerates quicker, and burns the tires off good. i can grab 3rd gear on dry pavement on a good day. 2nd gear on dry pavement all day long..
seems like when you let the clutch out hard with the heavy wheel, the engine slows down alot less, as where it would with the light wheel.
i also had a diesel with a 210mm setup with a light wheel, and it didnt have near the bottom end torque that this car has..
just my 2 cents..
