Swap questions!!!

Well i have a 1986 Golf 1.6N/A 5speed with A/C and manula everything.I did not know to type in for a search.So i can get a clean 1984 or 83 GTI U.S. built ones.My question is what all would it take to swap over my engine and trans to the A1 plus what ever eles i need to swap over to get her runing.Like what all parts can be swaped over and what parts might i have to get to do this swap.My reason for doing this is one the golf i have her body is ok but the strut towers are shot and i like the MK1 body lines better.SO any help and info on this would be grate thanks!!!

as long as you have both the mkI and mkII (rabbit and golf) you'll have everything you need to make one complete rabbit diesel.

move the engine mounts over from the gas rabbit motor onto the diesel golf motor so that you will be able to bolt it into the rabbit. then either pick apart the wiring diagrams to get it to run, or use the golf wiring harness in the rabbit.

take the fuel pump and accumulator out from under the back passeneger side of the car and replace with fuel line.

this is starting to sound familiar.....i think there is already a thread about this somewhere if you run the search.

have fun, i've had both a rabbit diesel and a rabbit GTI, both fun cars, but i ended up cutting up the GTI and i still daily drive the diesel, if that means anything to you.
