AND
the 22r gets to that point because the chain stretches. If our engines had that happen it wouldn't be good on the valves.

yea, any of you guys seen a really bad 22r chain? you can damn if you hold the chain straight out, the end will be pointing straight down. it just forms a nice ARC. so, i cant imagine that would be good for our engines. because the pump and valves are timed in an exact manner. besides, who wants to tear a engine down to basically a short block to replace the timing chain? belts are cheaper, last almost as long now days, and are about 374 times easier to replace..

I think iv changed my tune on this project...iv started looking for actual toyota diesels that will bolt in with no adaptions...i realize now that having a toyota diesel imported for around 15-$1700 will be cheaper than buying even a dilapidated VW TD for $200 (if one can even be found, wich doesnt look too promising), rebuilding it and then having all the adapter parts made...

so the toyota project will remain all-toyota parts i guess and then the rabbit project will remain all VW...and the chevy van diesel will remain all chevy...(i have enough restoration projects to keep me occupied until i die)..
