engine orientation questions.
« on: July 26, 2010, 07:00:58 pm »
I know all of the engines in rabbits/jettas etc are mounted transverse...but what about the vans? are they in transverse or longways? Iv run into another potential problem with the Tercel swap plan. i originally thought a MF code engine would be fine, but the Tercels engine goes in longways, as if it were a normal RWD truck or something (but its not).  my main concern is the location of the coolant inlets/outlets. with the MF engine, the one coolant pipe comes out of the block right next to the IP...wich is the opposite side of where the radiator will be...wich means the coolant line will have to snake around the engine to get to the rad. Do the JX van engines have a different layout?

Does that Tercel have metal or plastic radiator tanks? Moving the outlets on a metal tank is common work for a radiator shop.

it won't hurt to snake it around the engine to the rad to save a ton of money :P
