1978 Perkins Diesel Overheating

Our Good Old Farm Tractor started over heating last winter, its blowing coolant out of the rad. I've replaced the water pump and it still kept doing it. Even when its -20 out.

The tractor is a Massy 135 3 cylinder Perkins. Is there Tstat on it? and could I just remove it?

Should be the same engine as my Ford super dexta, 152 inch 3 cylinder. Thermostat should be under a two bolt flange where the top rad hose hooks to the engine. I'd pull it, at least to check and see if that's your problem. Might want to check the air filter too. If it can't draw enough air it will get hot too, but that's not likely the problem.
I had an overheat problem with mine, was caused by the lack of a fan shroud. Put a shroud on, end of problem.

I talked with the shop and with Giles and they both said that it sounds like a blown headgasket, its a cheap and easy shot and while the heads off I will change the T-Stat also lol. It hasn't been taking apart since the last motor Job 4 years ago.

I'd start with the t-stat, but that's just me. 5 minutes and a little silicone............  I know of 2 4 cylinder perkins (236's) that had a bad stat cause your symptoms.
