I always wear nitrile gloves.  Very well worth it to me.

and about 100 gloves a week

Yup... I buy 'em 5 boxes of 100 at a time... now my wife and kids use 'em as well.  Swell for picking up after the dog... opps... sorry, again. ::)
Seems like every night I go to the farm I put on gloves. Then I need to do something that I need them off and get crap on my hands.
Like I said it always goes that way. I use the parts washer as well to break stuff loose. It has keroscene in it now. Gojo I have too works without too much drying of skin.

I use magic soap. doctor bronner's magic hemp oil soap to be specific. I prefer peppermint, it does dry the hands out a lil, but it works pretty key.

toque? freakin canadians and your weird names for hats...  ::)

I never knew that word. Or how it was spelled until now. I learned about "toooks" from:

LMAO STARNGE BREW  :) that movie is awesome lol, i agree toque on the head to keep the grease/ rust/ gravel out lol, and the benefit of wearing gloves, (I think us canadians will agree) is that you dont get the beer fridge door handle greasy when you go to open it  ;)

I've got a jar of diesel and grease on my kitchen counter for when I've got soap on my hands. Does the trick quite nicely.

enough boost is when you have 3 dimple marks in the hood from the valve cover nuts..  ;D

That guy's out to lunch. I very much enjoy reading what he has written on his labels.

Bahahahaha!!! That's about how I feel with clean hands.

Those thin gloves are nice but only after you get used to them, before that they're a pain.

A few years ago I managed to splash (black oil) and then spill (clean oil) oil all over my head on one oil change!!!!!
About 5 washes with head and shoulders didn't get nearly all of it out so I tried rubbing alcohol and it worked pretty good.

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I'm a big fan of the blue gloves... except when it's hot out. You reach up for something and a gallon of hot sweat rolls down your arms. But being in aviation, I've seen a LOT of the old techs developing cancer from playing in cleaners & degreasers unprotected for years. MEK & trichlorethelene was splashed around like water back in the day. I try not to handle any substances in the garage without wearing my rubbers. :-*

I'm with the guys who don't like wearing gloves because of feel issues.  I know it's better and safer, but...
I use Motomaster heavy duty hand cleaner with pumice (citrus).

For the issue with hands cracking, I use Deb SBS 40 hand cream (http://www.seton.ca/setonca/category/First-Aid/Hand-Cleansers/0/5/100031.200296.407000.html) on a regular basis.   I have issues with the skin on my hands cracking open to the point where they bleed, and this is the only product I have found that works for me.

Also, in the summer, welding caps (not sure of the proper name) are cooler than toques.

Barrier creams work pretty well. Apply to your hands before starting work, it blocks any chemical contact with your skin, and allows you full tactile sensation, unlike gloves.

I used to hold my semi-permanently dirty hands as a source of pride until one day i got sick after a full day of bleeding brakes on a problematic rabbit. All that brake fluid was absorbed through my skin.  A few years later the DAY i decided to try to start using them, i was repacking a CV joint and noticed a new warning on the tube of moly grease "DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE SKIN. USE WITH GLOVES ONLY" . This was ,of course, after years of ramming the grease in with my bare hands into cv joints etc. PLUS it's really really bad for your girlfriends health[think about it]. I personally never work without them or at least use barrier cream- Snap-on and Wurth sell it.

The molybdenum is also real bad, as any heavy metal.
