My return line leaks like a sieve
i know that's not normal, but the fitting i have on the turbo side is completely wrong and won't thread properly, it's the return line i got when i bought the motor
the turbo is a K14, with the drain pipe , and it's being drained into the pan of a 1.6 TD
can anyone tell me what thread the drain pipe has? (the return line side, not the turbo side). it's metric, isn't it? I've been looking through steel braided line style fittings at auto shops and haven't been able to find a fitting that looks correct, and of course there's no way of them being able to tell me
i have a feeling those kinds of fittings are all SAE, not metric, anyway, which is really why i need help
i know this is complicated, but basically i just need to know what others have done in this situation, and where I can find the correct fittings
i'm not really even sure where to start
any help would be awesome
If you're talking about the fitting on the oil pan itself that the drain line connects to, you're right, it's metric. It's some funny size that even the specialty hose shops don't have listed in their books. Have you called your dealer to see if they can get a new line? If not, you may have to make a new one. You can just reuse your fittings and replace the braided hose if that's what's leaking. You can also check out 034motorsport.com. They have a lot of metric to AN fittings that would make fabricating a line a lot easier.
7/8-14 fits it or JIC 14, but it isn't right. THere is a FAQ about turbo oil lines that doesn't have that info clear so if you find out what it is please add to it.
thanks for the help guys
I asked the same question on a local forum and was reffered to a fittings manufacturer nearby
I was able to pick up a new drain hose built with the proper fittings and made of pneumatic grade tubing for $30

no more leaks!
