ok so you're telling me that Catlin's mk3 flywheel will work with my 210mm clutch and pressure plate and has no relevancy to the 22mm input shaft on my MK2 transmission!

Is it okay to clean out the bellhousing with solvent?
I want to make sure no oil/grease gets anywhere near my clutch disk.

yeah, that PP/flywheel should work. It's just the clutch disc that's on the input shaft

a FW is a FW. the clutch and the trans input shaft are what make the mk3 special. clutch is still 210mm. just has a bigger hole in the middle for the 24 spline input shaft. instead of the 22 spline shaft of our standard 020 trannies. yes ed, his FW will work. just dont use the mk3 clutch.

mk2 PP
mk2 disk
mk3 FW
mk2 trans.

it will work wonderfully.

It is fine to clean it with solvent. Maybe stay away from the pushrod area, but they have seals that hold up to oil so it should be fine. I used brake cleaner on mine, after Brokevw put it into the ultra sonic cleaner and I got it a little dirty.
