How hard would it be to fix this rust hole spot? About how much would it be at a body shop? The hole is 1.5 inches in diameter and extends up into the bottom of the windshield. I don't want the hole to get any bigger!
Windshield has to come out, also the wiper assembly. The offending rust cut out and a new patch welded in. Then good epoxy putty, prime paint under coat. It looks too bad to just patch with fiberglass, and of course a new windshield. You can save a small amount of money taking the windshield and wipers out, but unless you have a torch or mig,it's off to a body shop. If you're lucky, including windshield, maybe $500 +
My brother in law won't reinstall a winsheild in a car like that. If you could find another rabbit that is wrecked or rusty elsewhere you could cut that out and weld it in, but yes windshield out, wiper out, cut and weld looks to be your only good fix. You could silicone or some other rig fix until you need a windsheild then to it all unless you just want to do it now. I would agree with caveman at around 500 for professional work.
