On my 92 eurovan when I got it had problems with the gauge cluster - namely the rpm the temp and gas gauge. Solved the rpm and gas problem and determined that the temp problem is in the 4 - wire sending unit, as I used a spare that I had and now it works better but not accurately. With the two speed fan running full tilt coming off the highway, and it's been hot and humid - it's only reading about a quarter way up on the gauge. The replacement switch has a different color and part number and has 140 degrees marked on it. The original has 120 degrees marked on it. Doing some research I find that there are a number of different temp switches available with all different part numbers and colors.
Anybody know if the gauge accuracy is determined by the switch??
Thanks.
I'm pretty sure the square shaped connector switches have different color codes for a reason, different engines etc
