Timing with Light Weight Flywheel...and head off

Ok, I've read that the TDC marks are "at least an inch off" in a couple of places...but they look the same to me.  I just put on a new eurospec 210mm flywheel, and am fitting an aaz head.  I really don't want to grenade this thing, so any input would be appreciated.

So the stock 190mm has TDC marked with the big metal nipple dealy, and then the timing mark ~6 degrees off from that?

and the gassers are setup similar, just a few degrees off? 

so if someone can verify both of these things that I have no idea about...I should be able to dust off my geometry book and figure out where to mark the 210 to time it correctly???

or am I way overthinking this and can just eyeball it since the head is off :)

you are way overthinking it. gasser flywheels bolt right to diesels. timing marks are the same. i took a 190mm off my 1.5 and installed a 210mm unit off a 92 digi jetta engine. digi flywheels dont even have TDC marks. those BIG ligs sticking out are not timing marks. they are just there. timing marks are just little "scratches" almost..

when the piston is at the top of its stroke, its at or right about at tdc.. if your good, you can get the piston to the top, and then turn the crank back and forth a few times to get a feel for the healf way point, or exact TDC..
