I know that this has been covered a lot and I have searched about the aircraft spruce. Could someone that has the setup point me in the right direction as what to order exactly? I would like to get the fast reacting probe and a gauge with whatever else is required. Thank you.
I believe 8valvesfury had a thread about this in the general section. There is a gauge from westach on the aircraft spruce site that has the best gauge and the SMALLEST MOST BESTEST egt probe.
Yup, and the EGT thread in the Engine Mod section of the FAQ has the part numbers etc.
Westach part #'s
10-01478 - 1/8" npt EGT Probe
10-01229 - Westach Instrument light
10-04147 - Westach 2c2-19 EGT gauge 200F-1400F (perfect range, as high as you need to go, and a good cool down measurement too.)
Total= $107
I'm really happy with my Auber Instruments gauges, I've got both boost and EGT. To my surprise, it accurately shows the ambient temp on a cold start and reacts VERY quick. Celsius or Fahrenheit, adjustable alarm that can be used to trigger a relay (will trigger water/meth injection for me in the future). Costed just shy of $200 for the 2 gauges, thermocouple and 4 bar map sensor
*and 8v-of-fury, 1400F isn't quite as high as I need my gauge to go
Hey that's just what I needed guys, I really appreciate the speedy replies on this site. You guys are more dependable than family sometimes!
I'm really happy with mine, reacts very quickly and like all VDO gauges, looks factory. I like the aircraft spruce one too, but I thought it would look out of place with the rest of the gauges.
The solution there is to just put a bunch of other Westach gauges in.
But then I'm an irredeemable gauge junky.

If you ever swap in one of the Micro-1000 probes you'll never say the VDOs react fast again.
Replied to the other thread, but the VDO probe looks exactly like the Micro-1000 and I bet it reacts just as quick.

they could look identical but be of different metal composition, and the reaction would be a whole world of difference.
