Before:

After:

Cylinders are bored to 80.01 with all new Kolbenschmidt main/rod bearings and pistons, cranck was ok so it was only polished.
I'm going to start the assembly tomorrow

After that: TDI flywheel with clutch, CEX 02A gearbox with 100mm driveaxles.
Where did you get the new pistons from?
The machineshop supplied them, price was about €72 a piece rings included. Kolbenschmidt is an OEM VW/Audi supplier so I thought it was a good choice of pistons (no ebay crap)
http://www.kolbenschmidt.de has divisions in the US too.
For some reason the original pistons in my (supposed to be) AAZ are not the correct dimensions for an AAZ, the piston skirt is smaller. the shop delivered me the same dimension pistons so I got kinda racepistons
I couldn't wait to get things going:

Cranck and intermediate shaft mounted, going to buy a 12-side 10 and a pistonringcomressor to get the rods/pistons in.
How much does this whole rebuild cost you? I might be interested to do the same.
The machineshop work and parts were €790 incl VAT.
That included bearing, complete pistons, all engine gaskets/seals, boring/honing cylinder and polishing the cranck.
And a lot of time...
Hey that looks nice! I love building fresh engines.

Did you get the crank machined to accept the new style crank sprocket?
Nope.. I kinda forgot that
