When I got to the car this morning, saw it was open. Got into and it was a complete mess, car papers lying around, everything on the floor, open glovebox, and so on.
Did a quick check: they didn't steal anything valuable: had my tools on the trunk, they didn't touch them. Had a cool umbrella, nothing. They tried to steal the manometer gauge (it is WELL fixed in its place, fortunately), and probably they were looking for the stereo face to steal the stereo, I dont leave it inside the car, obviously.
What they stole in the end was my music CD bag (my beloved music, sigh), and someone (probably an unrelated drunktard) hit one of my mirrors and broke it. So, starting the week in good spirits.

If I had caught him in the act I would have got medieval on his skull. Damn pesky thieves.

They are still trying to steal radios ?
I thought that was over as well... I've seen a few cars with broken windows around here in the last months.. I think they're trying to steal gps and tech gizmos...
Back in the eighties, i would be repairing one car a day with a broken window. Mostly cabriolets
Upon further inspection, I discovered that the drunktard did hit the mirror and the rear fender, bending the wing a bit to the inside. Now the rear bumper is no longer atached to that side.
The thief also stole my chinese box of cheap-o-fuses (1 euro).
Is it me or people just do this to annoy other people?
What happened to the Mirror Fairy?

I'm no thief but if I wanted to gain access to a cabby and didn't car about causing damage I'd put a butter knife through the roof and unlock the door.
I don't even lock my car, I never leave anything more valuable than the window in the car and I live and work in reasonably crime-free areas.
Yeah, small town Wisconsin has it's benefits(not much crime). When I owned a cabby, I always left it unlocked, often with the windows down, to prevent some crackhead from knifing the top. I still don't lock my cars. If there's something you want inside, just take it, don't break my windows, please.
