I have a 91 ME N/a engine sitting in my garage missing only its pump and injectors (which i have on the 81 engine in the Jetta) and I want to build it up.

Plans are as follows:
1.6 ME n/a hydro block (about 250-300kms)
1.9 AAZ hydro head (unknown kms, will get checked first on the list)
1.6 N/a pump (for now, its what I have. 250-300kms)
1.6 N/a injectors (again, for now. unknown kms)
Giles pump (eventually)
Turbo!! (what are your suggestions? Smokey eddy has had good results with his T3)
Boost gauge
Egt gauge
Oil temp gauge
Tall geared FF trans from the 81.
Now with the AAZ head, I will need new manifolds correct? Just the
exhaust intake ports are "D" shaped right? Basically all I need to get it running is turbo, and manifolds. oh and oil lines of course.
what are ya'll peoples suggestions?

thanks a lot guys.
thanks Andrew, any suggestion as to what turbo to use? bascially what will be the easiest swap on and go turbo.
depends what intake manifold you plan to run for what turbo you want, most turbos will simply bolt on with an ebay manifold or something then its just a simple matter of plumbing. also if you're going to get the oil pressure and temp gauges rob them from a cabriolet from a junkyard or off vw vortex they're cheap and good. just make sure you get the oil pressure sending unit because a brand new costs 75 dollars. i would also suggest doing a compression test, if you have good compression, good oil pressure and it doesn't burn oil then carry on with setting the aaz head on.
I have no turbo or intake in mind as to what to use, I will use whatever turbo-intake-w.e that is the easiest and cheapest to find
i have an sdi intake if you want to buy it, it has d ports and crazy long runners, won't work with a td pump but might work on an na pump
here it is
Damn thats nicee. However i feel the intake should be the last piece i buy, just in case the AAZ head doesn't work out you know? because then at least i could just build it is a 1.6 and not have to find a new head to warrant that beaut of a intake. lol
