WTB: Various parts for my Jetta Diesel Project
« on: June 12, 2010, 03:24:58 am »
I have begun the restoration of a 1990 Jetta GL with blown 1.8 Digifant II engine and tranny for $300 in 2008. Already bought about $3,000 in parts, and half of them are already installed. The donor engine is a 1.6 NA from my wrecked 1986 Jetta Deluxe Diesel. Can get the engine converted from CE1 to CE2, and will plug in accordingly with some complete wiring from 1986 (Glow Plug Relay, so on...) I have difficulty finding the parts to complete the project by the end of this summer. What I need are:

AC/Alternator bracket (couldn't repair the damaged one, and the sources quoted them over $120)
AGS Transmission in a GOOD condition
GTI 8V Exhaust Manifold (Dual port, already have dual downpipe and the rest of the exhaust)
If possible, the rear Brake Disc Kit parted from old GTIs/GLIs, or at least, the axle stubs and calipers.

Thanks.

the disk brakes are not worth your time. they are complicated, and really expensive and hard to get parts for. and they really stop you no better than drums. but drum e-brakes hold about 800x better on a hill. my GTI had disks all 4 corners. and it didnt stop any better than my bug with 4 drums. haha.
