lock the passenger door, and now it won't open

Stupid Retarded Door Will Not Open...  >:(

Like really? this all has to happen? COme on! I GIVE IT LOVE! IT GIVES ME SHAT.

Sorry for the rant. On to pressing matters. Go with the broski to the local Can Tire, gets out locks his door.. come back door will not open at all. I ask him what did you do? He told me he locked it, and t hat it was a little harder than normal to push down. What did he break? I'd tear it apart right now and take a peak, but i don't really feel like it after being on the ground doing motor mounts.

How do the locking mechanisms work in these cars?

I'd guess something broke in there, with mine the lock buttons jam and you gotta wriggle it up and down before it'll go.

Does it unlock.....as in go click when you turn the key or pull the knob up? Or is that stuck.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

The lock rod goes to a plastic piece,
that can get strained and break.

Why can't they just crawl in and out the window on that side ?
The window still work ?
You know thats what Cartman would make them do.

An 81 jetta probably isn't worth the time to pull the door panel and figure it out - but just in case - that's what you gonna have to do.

Either the lock lever mechanism, and/or the release lever mechanism, needs some authoritahh laid into it.

Something probably needs rebending/lubing/adjusting.
If nothing is broken.

Watch how the lock mech works first - then bypass the linkage and go strait to the heart where it turns its trick. When you feel like you have that in true unlocked shape - do same thing going through the release mechanism bypassing the linkages.

If it still won't open for you - then try mule kicking it open from inside while your tripping the release. But don't do that while doorpanel is installed - especially if its a front 4dr panel.

It would be a cardinal sin to defile a decent front 4dr interior panel.

Hood sliddin and window ridin like Luke and Bo Duke Style? ;) Bro has been gettin in and out of window, but its a real PITA, and gets some funky looks.

Listen here Mr. Smart*** :P The panel removal is on the list of things to do, i just don't know how easy it will be to remove if the door is closed and up against the seat... I just yesterday got the driver panel back on after silicone-ing my window back in to its little tray at the bottom. lol

I have already defiled the front door panels by installing new speakers ::) lol

I'd take out both front seats as step #1 when i tackled the passenger door panel for plenty of breathing room.

If nothing else - you'll need good leg room in case it comes down to mule kicking that sucka. Put a red flower pot on yer head...
and kick it ---- kick it good ((DeVo voice)).
