front strut trouble

so i have a dilema, i need to change tthe front spring and dont have the tool. so far i made one out of a 13/16 spark plug socket but im away from my car and need to figure out what size allen key i need to hold the strut while i turn the nut off, anyone know?

It SHOULD be 7mm, although if they have been replaced [ i hope at least once by now], they could be 6, or 8 or a flat edge

yeah it was a 6mm on my 91 and 92 but on my 90 it was a 7mm, it was one of the easiest things ever to change that strut, i was surprised.
