I'm one of those who dispises the tailgaters out there. Tonight I was minding my own business coming home from work about 11pm and the guy behind me decides to help me along. I"m doing about 60mph when he pulls right up on my back bumper close to where I can't see his headlights. Brakes or gas??? I've been reading about "smoking" them out and decided to give it a try. I dropped down to 4th gear and floored it and looked in my mirror. He's on the brakes and I couldn't believe all of the smoke I could see in my mirror. I"m a believer. BTW, I drive a 1985 Jetta Diesel n/a. I think I blew out a little carbon as we used to say years ago.

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.
I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I totally agree. Normally I would just do the brake check but this time I thought I'd try something different. IT WORKS!!!

a buddy of mine brake checked a cop(who was following WAY too close) and got hit.
didn't turn out as great as he had expected.
I use the long skinny pedal all the time, and have many a cop pull me over and tell me just how much they dislike people like me "endangering" the lives of others by smoking too much.
go and have fun!

in oregon, it doesnt matter whos fault it was to begin with, if you hit someone from behind, no matter what, it is your fault. so if you brake check someone, and they hit you, the oregon law punishes them, even tho my foot on the brakes made their car hit mine, still their fault. it rocks...
ive never been able to make much smoke. black car used to, but then boost would hit and the smoke would go away..

law is the same here, but there were things the cop got him for that were unrelated to the accident that would have been a non issue if he had not brought the attention upon himself.
(some contraband was discovered in his car)

gotta hide that stuff better. VW glove boxes lock for a reason, and they have saved my @ss a couple times. once the glove box is locked, they gotta have your permission or a warrant to search it.
