loping is from the cam, and its a gasser only thing, because of valve overlap. diesels dont have any valve overlap. detroit diesels kinda lope, but thats because of improperly adjusted governor buffers usually.. a diesel should idle nice and smooth if its running right.

a bosch VE pump will not lope if it runs correctly. a detroit has no injection pump. it actually kinda has an injection pump per cylinder. and a separate governor box to control them.

what are you trying to achieve? a diesel that lopes like a gasser? good luck, it wont happen if you keep it running good. i suppose you could make some sort of device to work the throttle to make it sounds like its loping, but its still gonna be stupid.

yet again, a good running diesel should not "lope". thats just governor problems is all.

Diesel engines do lope, actually it is called hunting.  They are hunting for the idle rpm.  You see this alot in the sled pull crowds.  Look at some of the tractors and they have a heavy lope.  They are adding so much fuel that it will go past the idle and the injection pump will inject less fuel then see it needs more fuel to make up the rpm difference.  To get it to lope they put oversized supply tubes to the injectors.  Bigger injectors and pump turned up.  As for the VE pump don't know.   All the engines I am talking about are direct injection.

yea, but those pulling engines are a whole different kind of animal, not even the same level.

he wants to make his 1.6 lope from what i understand.

run too thick of fuel, os the governor can't respond fast enough.

my cummins pump lopes a bit(really more of the "hunting" mentioned earlier)

but it has a 12mm pump head, a very aggressive camplate and a stiff spring on an un-caged governor spring.

it's idle does not lope like a big cam gasser, but does drop and then grunt up, drop and grunt up etc...

sounds  cool, and has absolutely no effect on performance.

hehe, we're talking about the result of bad design in the idle control system being a desirable characteristic :-)

just funny is all :-)

thats kinda what im after, i just dont get why he wants it to lope. if you want something that lopes, make an engine that REALLY lopes.. 320* TT cam, 45mm weber side drafts, now that baby would lope.

sure a diesel would be cool to have lope, but whats it gonna be like at low speeds in first gear? its gonna buck just like my cammed up gti... cam/loping is STUPID on the freeway if your at a snails speed. last time i was on the freeway i wished the entire time that i had my stock cam back in there.

my favorite part of my diesel is the smooth low end power it has. idk why you would want to mess that all up..

i was refering to the device to work the throttle to make it lope, that would be stupid, not the actual lope..

I think he wants it to lope like this P Pumped 24 Valve Dodge Cummins Lope Idle Revving
A cam lope and a fuel lope sound way different....
The one in the vid is a fuel lope to get things clear.

thats my dream truck by the way ;D
