Is a VNT possible in a mk2 jetta

Just was looking at my oil lines again and got to thinking about vnt. I just wonder with all the axles and engine mount is a vnt possible in a mk2 jetta? Anyone tried it?

I heard that since it hangs really low it would hit the engine mount.

A euro vnt would have a better chance of fitting.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

with a custom pass engine mount, a vnt would fit amazingly well. as they sit stock, the engine mount blocks over half of the turbo inlet.

I guess while I have it apart I should make one. Any pics of how this is possible/been there done it people? That italicized phrase is why this has taken 2 years plus to get this going >:(

What other options for a better turbo like VNT are there for MKII? I have that manifold still from AKI and next year want to upgrade to it and maybe a different turbo then:D

an integral manifold VNT needs a special rear engine mount. i havent drawn or fabbed one up yet, but im going to. on top where its straight, it needs to have a pretty good V built into it to clear the turbo inlet. other option is to use a big VNT on the other manifold you have.

I need to become a vendor, make, and sell the custom engine mount that the guy is asking over 200.00 for. Now that I see what it is I could make that with all the stuff I have. It doesn't look any different than the stock mount? check out the vendors section for what I mean.

Aren't there VNT17 flavors from Europe that did not have an integral manifold?  Seems as though you might be able to make a simple adapter flange from the stock T3 manifold.  The VNT15 is too small for the 1.6 anyway.  :D

VNT17 isnt too small tho, the one i got works GREAT on these smaller engines..

might be too small for you, but i had LOTS and LOTS of fun with my 17..

Does someone have a VNT that they could measure how far from the head surface the intake starts and stops and...

How the intake of the VNT is in relation to the exhaust manifold studs.

I want to make a few brackets  OR

Does someone have a trashed VNT they would let me use to make the bracket? I would take a good condition, but don't want to chance anything with someones baby.

the only problem is that the pass rear motor mount is where the cold side needs to go. if you built a custom motormount with a curve for the cold snail to sit in, it would work fine. its the damn pass side aluminum mount. i had an idea thought up in my head for a mount, if you want i could draw it up and scan it or take a pic or something? it would have worked too. a steel engine mount to fix the interference.

With my euro vnt if you laid a ruler on the head gasket surface it would cross close to the center line of the compressor inlet. I can't remember the distance from the head to the center of the compressor inlet

but im assuming he already has a US spec VNT. and probably wants to put it on a mk2..

I don't have it yet, but I want it. If I get a VNT 17 I want to use it in the jetta MKII :D

its gonna be as hard as making an engine mount to clear the cold side and intake.
