cheers just sold my 8v gti mk2 golf to get gtd for economy but still want bit more power
To gain noticable power, back out the max power screw a little.
Also check that the spaceship diaphragm is rotated to max.
If too much smoke, or if coolant temp rises much, then back off until you install a thermocouple in the exhaust manifold to keep an eye on temps...
These are quick adjustments, that will give you a feel of power increase.
What is this "spaceship diaphram" you speak of?

Sorry,
The Aneroid lump ontop of a turbo diesel pump, that will have the 1/4" air line running from the inlet manifold to it.
Inside the lid is the diaphragm, and it's spindle under this is the ecentric [offset] boost cone, that on the GTD is the steepest and most in demand by non GTD owners. rotating this alters the rate of positive feedback of more fuel for more boost...
Don't make this change with installing an exhaust gas temperature gauge first and noting the temps under a variety of driving conditions. If you dump too much fuel into it you'll most likely end up damaging the engine. The easiest and safest way to get more power is to move more air thru it with a larger diameter exhaust system and a fresh air intake, then install an intercooler if it doesn't have one already.
