How to deal with the wastegate
«

I have a KKK K24 and need to know how to tear it down and maintain it before installing. I can't get a normal hex key into the little bolts that hold it on to the housing. An idea of how this all works and what to do would be great. Thanks

are the wastegates different on the longitudinal turbos? cause i had no problem using a NORMAL allen wrench to take my gate out of my K24. but my turbo is off a 2.0 audi. wastegate is 90* of what normal is. but i had no problem taking it out.

They must be because I also had to grind down an allen key.

I broke every bolt off in the wastegate. I had to recip saw the one off and torch another. The other broke off so that it didn't need any mod to get the thing off.
Now I have it hanging and it won't come out. Any suggestions? I don't have the first clue about this and it is really getting under my skin. Tonight was a 2 steps back kind of night. I just wanted to clean it up and put in a boost controller. I may have fried it, I don't know.
What do you do to this to get it to work again? I will weld nuts to the broken off peices to get them out, but then how to I put humpty back together again?

The washer looking deal is free if that is the heat sheild. I just can get the valve to come out. Maybe it isn't the heat sheild. What is indside the wastegate? Soot? To cut the last bolt off when I was done there was a small fire inside. I know EGT are high and that is why I didn't worry about blue wrenching it, but now I am concerned. I will try working on it this weekend. I probably shouldn't have messed with it, but now I have to

Once I had the wastegate off I couldn't resist pretending it was a one-footed droid and playing with it.
