Parting 84 1.6 TD engine
«

I am replacing the 1.6TD engine in my Caddy with an AAZ. If anyone wants it or parts off it call 2o7 897 44o2 or email me: ilikevwdiesel at yahoo dot you know what. Everything under the hood is factory mk1 TD, I am only keeping the fuel filter and lines, everything else is available. This engine does not burn or leak but the compression is low, most likely it's rings.

I have the block and rotating assy. I do need everything else, oh! I have the I/M shaft and I/P pump as well but I basically need everything to complete my engine. I don't have the oil cooler or anything, I am doing the franken motor build and have a head and a basic block with rotating assy. but nothing else for the engine, to include brackets.
thanks,
Kevin

Early MF is Mech. through about mid 1986.
Later 86 through 92 MF is Hydra. (Tylers people got the MF a lot longer than we'uns did).
CY longblock compared to Mech MF longblock - i can't think of anything different - except for code. The CY is usually scarcer if you are hunting that particular code for some kind of faithful Mk1 restoration or clone job though.
The external bolt-on garments have some differences 4 sho.

yeah from what I have heard is that the MF solid lifter were really rare. Part of 85 and so far I haven't seen any from 86 that weren't swapped. That is what messed me up as I have a solid MF and thought it was a hydro until a closer look. I had to get another head as my old one was hydro

In the USA, 95+% of the 1.6 TD engines you'll find will be Mech.
We only got them through 86. The TD didn't go Hydra until sometime in later 86 production. (unlike NA)
The Hydra is the rare (rarer) one in the USA.
Canada is another story.
I have a complete 86 TD engine from an 86 Jetta TD GL.
It is Mech. (and not for sale - so don't throw the troll link on me)
