Any "how to's" on shifter bushing replacement?

The car is a '86 diesel Jetta.  It's got a lot of miles but runs pretty sweet - the shifter bushings are shot.  I have the kit but would appreciate any advice on the best way to do the change out.  I have access to a lift; it looks like it's possible from underneath.  Do they just snap off?  Any nuts/bolts, etc.?

Any advice, comments, etc. much appreciated.
