as far as I know all that is the same, as are all the accessories that bolt to the outside of the block.

the blocks just 16mm taller, and has a bigger bore. otherwise its pretty much the same as a 1.6 dimension wise.

The reason i ask is i have bearings for everything in the bottom end if i have the crank turned. I bought them for my 1.6 no more than 2 weeks ago.
I also have a brand new water delivery pipe for my 1.6 that i would like to use. I guess if its 16mm taller i'll have to bend it a bit. shouldn't be a problem...
Hey, i also may be able to finally run a crank case venting set up. doesn't the aaz block already have a hole for it?
in addition, i've been meaning to go for a braided oil return line and now this forces me to do it. I don't like the almost 90 degree bend my T3 has right now for a drain line.
What about the oil filter flange and vacuum pump? do those cross over as well?
I have gathered that the IP will cross over if i keep mounting brackets and same with my alternator.

Dearest Edna, from what I have read they are identical. (other than being a taller block) the 1.9 is a bored stroked version of the 1.6 yet is still the same block. Kinda like how a 390 Ford motor is just a bored and stroked 351 block

Everything external should and most likely will swap over.

good luck to you sir!

Actually, were both wrong

Upon investigation, all FE motors were based 332 block. This was then bored out all the way up to 428, to make the Ford-Edsel engine family.

Yep. But I thought the 360 was the base. That is the one you can put a 390 crank in and have a 390 with no other mods. At any rate I knew it was FE...I have ford engines, but am a die hard chevy VW guy

ok that's a relief thanks guys.
I have so many new parts for the 1.6 i was super choked if i had to sell them all off second hand and lose like at least 20% of what i paid for them ontop of buying new ones from the 1.9 AND having to get a new block-pistons-crank-oil pump-imshaft-oilpan.
I seriously owe Tyler for saving my arse. he oddly enough hasn't replied to my message i sent last night though. strange of him not to be on the forum yet today.
id love to bore the 1.9 out.

I had a doctors appointment, cut me some slack

The following parts will not cross over from a 1.6 block to a 1.9
Vacuum pump
IM shaft
IM pulley
Oil filter stand
I think everything else externally is the same. Turbo oil feed and coolant distribution pipe are different but I think you can make them work.
You certainly can use your 1.6 alternator, that is what I have on my AAZ. Of course you need the proper alternator bracket.
As for the breather, both the 1.6 and 1.9 block have the hole for it. The difference is that since the breather tube is designed for the 1.9 block it is too tall for the 1.6 without modifying it.

Everything but the alt bracket. If you are using the alt from your 1.6 then you need the bracket from your 1.6.
