Low RPM smoke
« on: April 25, 2010, 01:24:46 pm »
Changed my boost pump over to my spare, due to a worn throttle shaft bushing and leak.

The spare came off a 91 1.6TD, my car is a 90 1.6TD, so I wasn't expecting too much in the way of difficulties.

Driving it for the past few weeks, though, I have not got t set up quite like I'd like it to be...

So. Runs well, starts well, idles a bit higher than I'd like, but not high enough that I've bothered to make changes there.

Mostly, it's about the smoke. Under low loads, starting off the line in traffic and all, unless I really nurse it, I get huge amounts of black smoke until the revs come up.

Can someone suggest where to start?

Am I looking at playing with the LDA, adjusting something else?

Thanks!

Cheers

And presumably until the boost comes up?  Yes, I'd say your LDA is overfueling a bit.  Try backing it off a little.
