Which Headgasket?
« on: April 25, 2010, 08:39:55 am »
On my 1984 1.6N/A, I checked piston protrusion and ended up with .90mm.  I had my head rebuilt, and the machine shop said they took off 8 thousandths total from resurfacing, I hope that was all.  I know in the Bentley that .92mm piston protrusion is the cut off for a 2notch headgasket, but that is considering a stock head.  Should I go with a 3 notch headgasket or stay with a 2 notch.  The machine shop didn't do anything to the valve seats, other than a 3 angle valve job and replacing the valve guides and 4 intake valves.
Thanks

What would happen if I use a 3notch gasket at .90-.92mm piston protrusion?

Slightly harder starting, slightly reduced power.
