Center console interchangable ??
« on: April 17, 2010, 11:56:55 pm »
Hey guys !
I'm looking to put a center console,with 3 gauge cluster-into my 82 pickup,which doesn't have a shelf or knee bar.
I found a gentlman,who is selling a nice console from a 85 Cabriolet WITH shelf/knee bar.
Will this interchange and fit correctly?
Or will I have to add the shelf/knee bar as well??
thanks,Mike

I have a Cabby console in my Rabbit..   I had to drill a few holes, and make an L-shaped bracket for the right side to mount the top of the console to the bottom of the dash..

Here's a few pics of the dirty little bugger..  Ignore the extra doo dads on this one, I added them..

I used a two piece rabbit GTI type, found a new black cluster (dash ) red trim to match
all black with red ttrim , this type is shorter and doesnt attach to the lower dash.

Kevin, you carry around mud as ballast to??? LOL  Well, some of the dirt on the driver side is covering the oil stain from when the oil pressure gauge exploded....

I really wish those floor mat's didn't have Geo on them..   Those have been the best fitting mats I've found..  And they were free too!

yea, my rabbit is no stranger to mud. thats for sure. inside, outside, and all around.

least your floor mats dont have big girly hearts on them. but same story, free matts and they fit perfect.
