Yeah, that's the classic definition of "involved" vs "committed".

The cow was "involved"... the pig was "committed".   ;)

It looks like your place is legit..but I think "organic" is the new buzz word that companies will weasel into any product to charge more by using legal loopholes and sham tactics instead of actually making it organic.

What makes us super legit is that we are a "certified organic retailer" by the oregon tilth.  We have paperwork that goes right down to every ingredient on every product that says organic on the front.  oregon is very different from kansas.  I agree its a sham in most places, but here in sw oregon,I get to meet the people growing my meats and veggies and so forth, because they all come here to sell their stuff.

I have always wanted to know what certifies organic. Is it just carbon based stuff or no "chemical" fertilizers? I kill and eat alot of critters and have a garden, but have never been that organic guy.

Yeah, I just love bacon. I found it in the can and thought it would be great if that was the only bacon left. This is more my style.

There is nothing wrong with a little more bacon I always say.

Do you guys have organic bacon?

we sure do.   ;D  but organic would be uncured.  curing it will lead to nitrites under high heat (which I referred to in my first post).  piggies get treated well here :P)

I have a nice garden and hunt and fish. Now most cow from the store is tasteless IMO. I know some people in my area working on getting their farm organic rated. They spent a lot of dough getting organic certified livestock, and are now breeding their herd with other organic breeders to get the best quality. I had a real eye opener on the extra amount of work they go through to keep things organic. I really like the organic milk it has way more flavour then the stuff in the carton. My kids are also way healthier not eating the supermarket processed crap.

Yeah I can tell a difference in stuff I kill and grow vs store bought. But I haven't been able to notice the difference say on my chicken eggs which are not organic *feed is whatever the mill has not organic as it is $$$* vs organic eggs. My eggs and chickens taste like the organic ones I have recieved from my mom who is way into organic stuff. I am sure the organic is a little better for you, but how much I certainly don't know.
BUT SERIOUSLY did you look at some of the bacon recipes I have used ^ ??? I am not overly concerned with how good something is for me LOL

have you had bacon pie yet?  :o baconny goodness I tell ya. I also like to for a treat wrap bacon around moose sausage and bbq it. Add some melted cheese on a homemade bun and its heart stopping good. On a side note, I had a back bacon sandwich today 1 inch thick. Something about reading this article made me go buy some back bacon, a french roll or 2, organic extra old cheddar, some eggs, and a quart of organic milk. I bbq'd the bacon, toasted the bun halves on the q, then made some cheese sauce in a pan and built me a sammich.
